257 traffic accidents occurred in 2024 in Al-Khums, claimed the lives of 89 people and substantial property damage

The latest statistics released by Col. Faraj Burka Director of the Traffic and Licensing Department in Al-Khums municipality, have revealed an alarming number of traffic accidents over the past year. A staggering 257 accidents were recorded, resulting in 89 fatalities, 232 severe injuries, and 146 minor injuries in addition to that 442 vehicles were damaged as a result.   Col. Burka confirmed that these accidents have caused significant property damage, exceeding 1.5 million Dinars. He noted that the primary cause of these accidents is the disregard for traffic regulations, such as speeding and ignoring traffic signals. He also pointed out the poor condition of roads and the lack of urban planning, noting that the coastal road has become a death trap.
