Eng. Belgacem Haftar, Director General of Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, welcomed Mr. Nicola Orlando, Head of the EU Mission to Libya, and his accompanying delegation.
Their meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Fund and the European Union, particularly in the crucial areas of reconstruction and development. Eng. Haftar also outlined the Fund’s key strategies and plans for driving Libya’s development forward.
Mr. Orlando expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality he received during his visit to Benghazi. He commended the significant progress achieved in the reconstruction of Derna and its surrounding areas and acknowledged the ongoing efforts to foster development in Benghazi.
Mr. Orlando tweeted from the EU Mission’s official account on “X,” stating: “We had a productive meeting with Eng. Belgacem Haftar. We are impressed by the tangible progress in reconstruction and development projects. We explored practical ways to support EU programs, aligning them with the Fund’s vision for improving the lives of Libyan citizens.”
He emphasized the promising opportunities that reconstruction efforts present for European companies, underscoring the EU’s commitment to forging a stronger partnership with Libya. This partnership, he affirmed, aims to translate shared goals into concrete projects that benefit all stakeholders.
