The Criminal Investigation Department has announced detailed statistics for cybercrime cases handled during the first quarter of this year, 2025. The total number of registered cases reached 135, while the number of devices and seized items processed amounted to 188 pieces.
Cases of social media platform misuse topped the list of cybercrimes with 104 incidents, during which 149 violating online pages and accounts were addressed.
The department also recorded 14 cases related to crimes committed via mobile phones, resulting in the seizure of 22 phones, in addition to 8 cases linked to surveillance cameras, during which 8 devices were confiscated.
The statistics also included 3 cases related to functional memory devices, two cases involving data copying via photocopying machines, and one case concerning the copying of key codes, with all tools used in the commission of these crimes being seized.
The Criminal Investigation Department affirms its continued efforts to pursue and combat cybercrimes in all their forms, emphasizing the utmost importance of exercising caution when dealing with various digital platforms, and the necessity of immediately reporting any suspicious activities to actively contribute to enhancing cybersecurity and protecting society from the dangers of cyberspace.
