The President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mohamed Idriss Déby, held a meeting today, Tuesday, in the capital N’Djamena, with the Minister of Transportation in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, and the presence of several senior Chadian military officials. The meeting addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the countries in several vital areas of mutual interest.
A statement issued by the Chadian Presidency indicated that the discussions held during the meeting focused primarily on three critical issues:
* joint efforts to secure the common border areas between the two countries,
* the resumption of direct flights between the capitals, N’Djamena and Tripoli,
* the activation and revitalization of trade exchange between Libya and Chad.
The statement from the Chadian Presidency pointed out that this meeting comes within the context of the strong relations that bind Chad and Libya. For his part, the GNU Minister of Transportation expressed his great optimism about the future of bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasizing that they will witness significant and positive development and transformation soon.
The Chadian side affirmed during the meeting its full readiness to implement all the decisions and understandings that were agreed upon during the meeting, in a manner that serves the common interests of the brotherly peoples in Libya and Chad. It is worth mentioning that these important talks come within a series of high-level meetings that have taken place and are taking place between officials of the two countries in recent times, with the Chadian Presidency considering the exchange of official visits between the two sides as an important and positive step towards strengthening cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.
