The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in cooperation and coordination with Libya’s Illegal Immigration Control Agency, successfully organized and facilitated the safe voluntary return of over 140 Somali and Ethiopian migrants via Sabha International Airport located in the south of the country.
According to a statement issued by the IOM, all of these migrants underwent thorough medical examinations before the completion of their return process to their countries of origin, within the framework of the voluntary return program implemented by the organization with the support and funding of the European Union.
This facilitated flight took place after these migrants had been accommodated for a while in the IOM’s accommodation centers in both Brak al-Shati and Sabha. It is worth noting that the IOM’s voluntary return program has effectively contributed to assisting thousands of migrants over the past years in their safe and dignified return to their home countries, with the program providing logistical support and necessary healthcare to migrants who express their desire to return home.
