The fires of Asaba'a: a mystery demanding official explanation

By.Ahmed Bogarsa

Asaba’a region continues to languish under the weight of a recurring series of mysterious fires, amidst the astonishment and dismay of its residents and the deafening silence of the concerned authorities. The scene resembles a chapter lifted from an unfinished suspense novel, as for months, flames have periodically reappeared in specific homes and locations, without any conclusive scientific explanation or official statement that respects the citizens’ anxieties and dispels the fear gripping them.

International experts who recently visited the area, most recently a Maltese delegation, have ruled out any connection between gases or chemical substances and these perplexing fires. Conversely, the authorities have yet to suggest any act of sabotage or deliberate intent. Nevertheless, some houses continue to ignite repeatedly, as if the flames are following a predetermined course.

Where Does the Defect Lie?

Are we facing a situation of inability to comprehend the phenomenon? Or are there entities with potential explanations who are hesitant to voice them? Does the official silence reflect ignorance of the truth, or a fear of revealing it? Pressing questions weigh heavily on every family in Asaba’a, and every citizen lives under the shadow of the flames and the dread of the unknown lurking around them.

Amid this ambiguity, unscientific explanations have begun to circulate among the people, ranging from the intervention of supernatural forces to the fires being linked to the curse of a buried treasure. Some have even come to believe that returning these alleged treasures to the earth might end the series of fires.

Recalling the Experience of Canneto di Caronia, Italy:

In this context, it might be useful to recall a similar incident that occurred in 2004 in the town of Canneto di Caronia in southern Italy, where mysterious fires broke out in many homes for no apparent reason. No evidence of electrical faults or flammable materials was found, yet the houses repeatedly caught fire, prompting the Italian government at the time to form a specialized national committee comprising geologists, physicists, energy experts, and criminal investigators.

After months of in-depth investigations, the committee concluded that the source of the fires was strong electromagnetic waves emanating from a nearby military radar station, which unexpectedly interacted with the homes’ electrical systems. The Italian government at the time did not hesitate to announce the investigation results and take immediate measures to protect the affected residents.

The Absence of an Official Narrative in Libya:

In contrast, the people of Asaba’a are still awaiting a sufficient official narrative that reassures them and places them at the heart of the truth. Merely offering vague reassurances and conducting protocol visits is insufficient to confront a scene where fires recur in a disturbing pattern, and the outcomes are always similar: a burnt house, a family living in constant fear, and authorities maintaining a puzzling silence.

How Long Will This Silence Last?

How many more homes must burn before the state takes the necessary serious action? Are we waiting for this perplexing enigma to turn into a national tragedy? Or does Asaba’a region not hold enough importance in the calculations of the power to warrant a clear and transparent explanation of what is happening?
