During a visit by the U.S. Navy vessel USS Mount Whitney in Tripoli, a high-ranking U.S. delegation, including Vice Admiral J.T. Anderson, Commander of the Sixth Fleet; U.S. Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland; and Chargé d’Affaires Jeremy Brent, met with several Libyan officials.
The meetings convened General Staff Chief in the Western Region, Lieutenant General Mohammed al-Haddad; Presidential Council Member Abdullah al-Lafi; the official tasked with the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taher al-Baour; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Abdulsalam al-Zoubi; the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister; and the Head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak.
During the engagements, the U.S. side affirmed its country’s desire to develop military relations with Libya and support any steps aimed at unifying the military institute. They emphasized their commitment to standing alongside Libyans in the security, economic, and political spheres to achieve the country’s stability and improve its conditions.
