In an interview with UN Television, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya affirmed that all relevant parties agree that the ultimate goal is to reach elections.
She added that the international community strongly supports the political process in Libya and seeks to ensure that elections are held as soon as possible, contributing to the country’s stability and bolstering the aspirations of the Libyan people.
UN Envoy Hanna Tetteh pointed out that while differing opinions and viewpoints exist, it is important to emphasize that all Libyan institutions have exceeded their original mandates concerning their legitimacy.
She stressed the necessity for those holding supervisory positions to understand their responsibility in enabling elections. She expressed her hope that the work to be undertaken based on the Advisory Committee’s outcomes will help reach this important goal.
