The Director of the Consular Affairs Department at Libya’s Foreign Ministry, Mr. Mansour Bu Janat, recently met with the Consul General of the State of Palestine to Libya, Mr. Imad Al-Atili, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Discussions during the meeting primarily focused on a detailed and comprehensive review of the situation of the esteemed Palestinian community residing in Libya, and the exploration of practical and effective mechanisms to streamline the various consular and administrative procedures and services provided to members of the community. Furthermore, the two sides addressed the latest serious developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the tragic and rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip.
On his part, the Palestinian Consul General, who also holds the position of Director of Expatriate Affairs at the Palestinian Embassy, expressed his profound appreciation and deep gratitude for the steadfast and principled stances taken by the Libyan government towards the just Palestinian cause. He particularly commended the fraternal and generous treatment afforded to Palestinians residing in Libya, who, in many aspects, are treated as Libyan citizens. The Palestinian Consul also lauded Libya’s firm and unequivocal position in rejecting the ongoing Israeli genocide and the policies of forced displacement. In response, the Libyan Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Libya’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinians. He also underscored the Libyan government’s commitment to providing all appropriate and favourable conditions for the Palestinian community residing in Libya, reflecting the deep historical bonds that unite the Libyan and Palestinian peoples.
