The concluding statement of the 38th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) conference has firmly reiterated its support for the Libyan people’s demand for the organisation of elections at the earliest possible opportunity. The statement stressed that such elections represent the optimal path towards achieving lasting stability in Libya, through an inclusive and constructive intra-Libyan dialogue, free from any external interference or influences.

The conference also reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause will remain the guiding compass for the entire Arab nation, no matter how brutal and intensified the racist Zionist aggressions become, and regardless of the desperate attempts to uproot the struggling Palestinian people from their deep-seated roots in human history.

The delegation from the Libyan House of Representatives concluded its active participation in the proceedings of the 38th AIPU conference, recently hosted by Algeria. During the conference’s closing session, significant reports and recommendations issued by the various committees were reviewed, alongside an extensive discussion of the ambitious draft work programme and the draft general budget of the Union for the upcoming year, 2025.

In the context of the closing day’s events at the 38th AIPU conference held in the Algerian capital, the former Second Deputy Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives and Minister of Defence in the Libyan government, Mr. Ahmid Houma, was honoured with the prestigious Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award. This award was bestowed in recognition of his distinguished efforts and contributions during his tenure as the Second Deputy Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives. The Libyan delegation participating in this important conference was headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Mr. Fawzi al-Nuwairi. The delegation included the members: Al-Salheen Abdel-Nabi, Hassan al-Barghouti, Aisha Shallabi, and the Head of the House of Representatives’ Office, Abdullah al-Masri al-Fadil.
