A 20-year-old woman, Fatima Abdulkarim Qaytun al-Barghouthi, was killed when a stray rocket directly struck her family’s home in Ain Zara area southwest of Tripoli on Wednesday evening, coinciding with armed clashes in the vicinity.
According to the National Foundation for Human Rights in Libya, the young woman was preparing for her wedding in the coming days before the shell tragically ended her life, turning her family’s anticipated joy into mourning amidst widespread shock and public condemnation of the civilian casualties resulting from the confrontations.
This incident is the latest in a series of security violations affecting residents in Ain Zara and neighboring areas during renewed armed clashes, amid repeated demands for an immediate ceasefire and accountability for those responsible for targeting civilians.
