Khalifa Abdelsadek, the Acting Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity (GNU), participated yesterday, Wednesday, in the 39th meeting of the OPEC+ alliance and the 191st meeting of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). During these sessions, Abdelsadek engaged in in-depth discussions with participating ministers concerning the latest developments in the global energy market.
Ministers from OPEC member states, convening online, agreed to uphold the framework of the Declaration of Cooperation signed in December 2016. Furthermore, a consensus was reached to extend previously agreed production levels until the end of December 2026. Additionally, the OPEC Secretariat was tasked with developing a mechanism to assess member states’ production capacity, to serve as a basis for production operations throughout 2027.
Concluding the discussions, OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais announced that the Organisation’s next member state meeting would take place on November 30. The OPEC+ alliance, meanwhile, is scheduled to hold its next meeting this coming Saturday to deliberate on proposed production levels for July 2025.
