The UN Envoy to Libya, Hannah Tetteh, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin, affirmed during a phone call that any initiatives aimed at resolving the Libyan crisis must be implemented within a comprehensive process, ensuring the participation of all influential political forces in the country.
Both sides emphasized the pivotal role of the United Nations in shaping prospects for a lasting solution to Libya’s internal crisis. They highlighted the utmost importance of good intentions and coordinated international efforts to overcome this protracted conflict.
For his part, Vershinin reiterated his full support for the UN Envoy’s activities, expressing his strong commitment to close cooperation with the UN mission. He also indicated his readiness to assist in bridging the views between various Libyan parties and overcoming the existing division, while taking into account Russia’s well-established relations with key Libyan actors.
