Spain is set to host two rounds of the Formula 1 World Championship in 2026, with a new race in Madrid joining Barcelona’s traditional event. This announcement, made on Tuesday, unveiled next year’s calendar, which will feature radical changes concerning both the number of participating teams and technical regulations. The premier class competition is scheduled to kick off in Australia at Melbourne’s Albert Park street circuit for the second consecutive year, from March 6 to 8.

The new Madrid round is set to take place between September 11 and 13, marking the conclusion of the European leg of the season before the championship moves to Asia. The Madrid circuit, which will incorporate both street sections and track sections, still requires approval from the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

The global championship will conclude in Abu Dhabi with the Yas Marina Grand Prix from December 4 to 6. Additionally, the Qatar Grand Prix is scheduled for November 27 to 29 at the Lusail International Circuit.

The Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal will be held in May, after the Miami race, a move aimed at reducing travel expenses for teams. This new arrangement also allows for the consolidation of the nine European races during the summer, beginning with the Monaco Grand Prix on June 7 and concluding with the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid on September 13.

The championship is expected to witness significant changes with the arrival of the Cadillac team on the circuits, bringing the total number of participating teams to 11. Furthermore, new technical regulations concerning aerodynamics and power units will come into effect, heralding a new and exciting era in the world of Formula 1.
