The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, received the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Libya, Hannah Tetteh, this Wednesday evening at the Council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli. The meeting addressed the latest developments in the capital’s security landscape and ongoing efforts to consolidate de-escalation and stability, particularly through the interim Committee for Security Arrangements established by a decision from the Head of the Presidential Council.
During the meeting, the UN Envoy commended the steps taken in this regard, affirming the United Nations’ support for these endeavours aimed at enhancing security and solidifying the existing truce. Tetteh also briefed President Al-Menfi on the latest updates concerning the ongoing preparations for the anticipated Berlin meeting on Libya, underscoring the continuity of international efforts to support Libyan stability.
For his part, Al-Menfi expressed his appreciation for the coordinated international efforts supporting an inclusive Libyan dialogue, reaffirming his adherence to national constants and the necessity that any political settlement be based on the will and consensus of Libyans, free from any external interventions or impositions, reiterating emphasis on national sovereignty.
