On Monday, the Agency for Combating Illegal Migration oversaw the deportation of 131 Chadian nationals who had been residing in the country unlawfully. This operation was conducted via Sabha International Airport, as part of ongoing efforts to combat irregular migration and regulate the status of foreigners within Libya.
The deportation process was the result of close coordination with specialised security agencies, and under the direct supervision of both the Civil Aviation Authority and the Passport and Migration Authority. Officials confirmed that all legal and humanitarian procedures related to the deportation were meticulously observed.
Agency officials stated that this step falls within phased plans aimed at returning illegal migrants to their home countries. They emphasised a full commitment to respecting the dignity and rights of those deported, indicating that repatriation operations will continue in the coming period.
It’s worth noting that the issue of illegal migration represents one of the most significant security and humanitarian challenges facing the Libyan state, particularly in the southern regions, which serve as a primary transit point for migrants heading towards the country’s north coast.
