The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity announced on Saturday a successful rescue operation involving 39 irregular migrants off the eastern coast of Tripoli. The operation was carried out by the vessel “Wadi Ghan P301,” belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Security, under the direct supervision of the Directorate’s head, Major General Al-Bashir Balnour Sulaiman.
In an official statement, the Ministry indicated that the migrants, of various nationalities, were en route to European shores and were intercepted at sea before reaching their intended destination.
Following the rescue, the migrants were transported to Al-Sha’ab Port point, affiliated with the Tripoli Coastal Security Directorate branch. There, legal procedures were undertaken, and they were subsequently handed over to the Agency for Combating Illegal Migration for further processing.
