The Libyan Audit Bureau, in its capacity as the head of the African Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI), presided over the 62nd meeting of the organisation’s Executive Board. The gathering, held in Rabat, the Moroccan capital, saw the participation of 13 member supreme audit institutions.
Khalid Shakshak, the head of the Audit Bureau and president of AFROSAI, emphasised the critical importance of fostering cooperation and exchanging knowledge and expertise among African audit bodies. He highlighted the necessity of integrating technology and big data into audit operations to enhance institutional performance and ensure greater effectiveness in public resource management.
The meeting’s agenda included the adoption of proposed items and a review of reports from statutory bodies. Extensive discussions also took place on the reports from the committees focused on strengthening organisational, institutional, and technical capabilities, in which the Libyan Audit Bureau plays an active role. Furthermore, the editorial board of the African Journal of Comprehensive Auditing presented its report during the sessions. The meeting is scheduled to conclude today, Thursday, following discussions on the remaining agenda items.
