The Benghazi Grand branch of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency (AIIMA) carried out a mass deportation operation on Saturday, involving 194 undocumented Egyptian migrants. The measure was taken due to their violation of residency laws and established health regulations within Libyan territory.
The operation was conducted in accordance with directives from the General Command of the Armed Forces and instructions from the Libyan Government’s Ministry of Interior. It received direct oversight from the agency’s head and supervision from the chief of its eastern region branches.
The deportation process was facilitated via the Musaid land crossing, following the completion of all necessary legal and technical procedures, and with comprehensive security provided by specialised security patrols.
The agency’s administration confirmed that the majority of those deported had been issued official expulsion orders for security reasons. The operation also included individuals with infectious diseases, as documented by medical reports, alongside women and children apprehended during anti-begging campaigns conducted in collaboration with relevant authorities.
The Anti-Illegal Migration Agency underscored its commitment to continue implementing state plans aimed at maintaining internal security and confronting all manifestations of irregular migration, in ongoing coordination with relevant institutions.
