The acting minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation in the Government of National Unity, Al-Taher Al-Ba’our, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Libya and the United Kingdom with the British Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Hemshe Faulkner. This took place during their meeting today, Monday, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli, with the British Minister’s accompanying delegation present.
The meeting also addressed a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest. Al-Ba’our emphasised the importance of the partnership with the United Kingdom, commending its continuous support for Libya, particularly in the areas of development and capacity building.
Al-Ba’our specifically noted the United Kingdom’s prominent role in the Security Council, especially concerning calls for a cessation of the war on Gaza, the necessity of lifting the blockade, and facilitating the entry of humanitarian and food aid to those besieged in the Strip.
For his part, Hemshe Faulkner reiterated his country’s firm commitment to supporting Libya in its pursuit of stability and progress. Faulkner stressed the British Government’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries on the foundations of mutual respect and shared interests.
