In the Egyptian city of Al-Alamein, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdel Aty, hosted his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan. The meeting focused on discussing a range of regional issues of mutual importance, with priority given to the latest developments in Libya.
During their talks, both ministers underscored the imperative of backing a Libyan-led solution, asserting that it must stem from internal national consensus, free from any external dictates or interventions. They also stressed the paramount importance of respecting Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The two sides delved into the pivotal role of Libyan national institutions, considering them the fundamental cornerstone for any sustainable resolution to the crisis, provided it aligns with established international frameworks.
For his part, the Egyptian Minister reviewed Cairo’s continuous diplomatic efforts to accelerate a comprehensive political settlement. These endeavours aim to preserve Libya’s unity and stability, in addition to contributing to the restoration of security across the nation.
Finally, both parties commended the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to support Libya in overcoming its current ordeal, which will, in turn, bolster stability throughout the entire region.
