Western Mountain military commander, Lt. Gen. Osama Juwaili, said securing Libya’s borders and combating human trafficking and smuggling are now top priorities for the region’s armed forces.
During a visit to the border city of Ghadames, Juwaili met with several local mayors and senior security officials to discuss coordinated efforts against organized crime operating along Libya’s frontiers with Tunisia and Algeria, routes he described as major corridors for illegal trafficking and transnational criminal networks.
The meeting addressed regional security challenges, with a focus on reactivating police directorates and fostering collaboration between military, security institutions, and civil society to stabilize the area and restore public safety.
