The Libyan National Human Rights Institution (NIHRL/NCHRL) has strongly condemned the recent failed attempt to target the headquarters of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, describing it as a grave terrorist act aimed at undermining national stability and damaging Libya’s international standing.
The institution warned that the incident reflects a serious security breach and exposes the failure of the Interior Ministry and other security bodies to contain escalating violence and criminal activity. It called on the Attorney General’s Office to launch an urgent and comprehensive investigation, ensure the prosecution of those responsible, and impose the harshest penalties.
Reaffirming its rejection of incitement against international missions, the institution urged the government to fulfill its obligations in safeguarding diplomatic and UN facilities, stressing that such attacks threaten Libya’s path toward peace and institutional legitimacy.
