On the margins of the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), Vice President of Libya’s Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, met with Tunisian Prime Minister, Sarah Zaafrani, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation—particularly in the economic and investment sectors.
The talks focused on creating a conducive environment for expanding partnerships between business communities and companies in both countries. The two sides agreed to reactivate the Libyan-Tunisian High Joint Committee to advance shared interests and deepen institutional collaboration.
Al-Lafi underscored the historical depth of Libyan-Tunisian relations and praised Tunisia’s consistent support for Libya’s stability. He highlighted Tunisia’s principled stance in standing by the Libyan people through various transitional phases.
The meeting also addressed pressing regional issues, most notably the humanitarian crisis in Palestine. Both parties condemned the ongoing acts of extermination, starvation, and forced displacement targeting Palestinians, and affirmed their unified position in support of Palestinian rights, including the establishment of an independent state.
The renewed diplomatic engagement signals a broader intent to consolidate regional alliances and promote economic resilience through cross-border cooperation.
