Major General Salah Al-Khafifi, head of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency, hosted a media delegation from Al-Hejera News, joined by the Minister of State for Irregular Migration Affairs. The meeting focused on the agency’s efforts to combat irregular migration and shed light on its activities.
Al-Khafifi affirmed that the armed forces, under the leadership of Field Marshal Saddam Khalifa Haftar, continue to support the agency by securing borders, pursuing smuggling networks, and safeguarding migrant shelters.
He outlined the agency’s military-supported operations, including securing field campaigns, upgrading shelter centers, organizing staff training programs, coordinating voluntary returns, and providing technical support for monitoring.
The discussion addressed key challenges such as the rising number of migrants versus limited resources, weak legislation, the need for stronger coordination between civil and military bodies, and security risks in border areas.
Al-Khafifi announced a monthly media slot for the newspaper, featuring field visits, interviews with officials and migrants, and documentation of the agency’s humanitarian and security activities. Both sides agreed to maintain media coordination to ensure accurate and comprehensive coverage of the state’s efforts in combating irregular migration
