The International Beach Festival kicked off on Friday, August 23, in Misrata, taking place at the historic Abu Sha’ira Beach Stadium. The competitions will run until August 29, marking a major sporting event that highlights Libya’s growing presence in beach volleyball both regionally and internationally.
Elite national teams from Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Argentina, and Russia are participating in the festival, competing in a spirited atmosphere that blends challenge and excitement on the sands of Misrata’s coastline.
According to the organizing committee, this edition aims to strengthen Libya’s international profile in beach volleyball, foster new avenues for athletic cooperation among participating nations, and contribute to the promotion of sports tourism while showcasing the city’s cultural appeal.
The Libyan Volleyball Federation played an important role in the success of the festival, securing official accreditation from the African Volleyball Confederation, which added formal recognition and prestige to the event.
