The Criminal Investigation Unit – Al-Wahat Branch successfully hindered an attempt to smuggle undocumented migrants south of the city of Jalu, following a report about a vehicle transporting migrants along a desert route in the area.
Upon receiving the alert, a security force from the unit was dispatched to the location, where they found an overturned Toyota Sequoia carrying approximately twenty migrants. The accident resulted in the deaths of four individuals, in addition to the vehicle’s driver, while the remaining passengers were rescued and transferred to Jalu Central Hospital for emergency medical care.
Initial investigations have begun with survivors whose health conditions allow for questioning. Authorities also apprehended the driver’s assistant, who was involved in the smuggling operation, and legal procedures are underway in preparation for referral to the relevant judicial bodies.
