The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Misbah Douma, has issued a statement affirming his outright rejection of any foreign military presence in Libya under any name, considering it an obstacle to stability that contributes to prolonging the crisis.
Douma stressed that achieving stability in the country will only be possible through fundamental steps: forming a unified government, holding free and fair elections, and unifying state institutions.
He called on both the UN Security Council and the Joint Military Committee (5+5) to take practical steps to end the foreign military presence on Libyan soil and ensure the independence of Libyan decision-making.
In the same context, the statement welcomed the establishment of international partnerships in the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure, and education, provided they respect national sovereignty and operate within a legal framework.
