Britain has affirmed its readiness to cooperate with Libya in the field of military capability development. This came during a meeting between the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, the Senior Advisor for Middle East and North Africa at the UK Ministry of Defence, and the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden.
From the Libyan side, the meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Communication, Walid Al-Lafi, the Chief of Staff of the Western Region, Mohamed Al-Haddad, and his assistant, Salah Al-Namroush.
The discussions focused on ways to support and develop Libyan military capabilities through cooperation in the areas of training and rehabilitation.
Dbeibeh stressed the importance of the partnership with the British side to raise the efficiency of Libyan military institutions, confirming that this cooperation will serve the country’s stability. For his part, Ahlgren affirmed that his country is fully prepared to provide assistance that contributes to Libya’s stability and the building of effective institutions.
