The UN Security Council has welcomed the roadmap presented by the UN Envoy to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, calling on the Libyan parties to engage fully and transparently with it. In a statement issued by the British Mission to the UN, the council emphasized the need to make the necessary concessions to advance the political process without preconditions.
The council expressed its concern about the fragile security situation, urging the relevant institutions to expedite the completion of financial arrangements and establish a unified budget to ensure the stability of the financial system. It also stresses the importance of making progress toward unifying institutions, including military and security.
In a final point, the council praised the holding of municipal elections in a number of cities, and affirmed the need for continuous international support to back these Libyan efforts, considering it a key entry point for achieving stability and ending the current divisions.
