Libya’s Acting Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Abdel Sadiq, took part in the Baghdad Energy Forum 2025, which launched on Saturday in Iraq. The event brought together Arab energy ministers and CEOs of leading global energy companies.
In his address to the forum, which concludes Sunday, Abdel Sadiq emphasized Libya’s efforts to raise oil production to two million barrels per day, alongside implementing a plan to reduce gas flaring—aimed at boosting output while protecting the environment.
He also highlighted Libya’s substantial oil and gas reserves, expressing optimism about future investment opportunities through partnerships with leading energy firms. Abdel Sadiq called for collaborative frameworks that balance national interests with global energy market demands, stressing the importance of strategic cooperation to meet both development goals and environmental responsibilities.
