Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU), held official talks in Malta following an invitation from Maltese Foreign Minister Ian Borg.
The meeting centered on strengthening ties, with discussions spanning political, economic, and security cooperation. Both sides also addressed joint efforts in managing irregular migration, enhancing border control, and coordinating maritime operations between their respective coast guards.
In addition to bilateral matters, the ministers exchanged perspectives on Libya’s evolving political situation and broader regional and global developments. Minister Borg expressed Malta’s intention to formally recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming UN General Assembly session.
The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen consultation and maintain close coordination on shared priorities.
