Al Ahli Tripoli’s basketball delegation is preparing to travel to Singapore next week to compete in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup, which kicks off on September 18. Libya’s reigning champions will begin their campaign with a high-stakes match against Unicaja Málaga, the Spanish club that won the previous edition of the tournament.
Al Ahli has been placed in a challenging group alongside Unicaja and Japan’s Utstunomiya Brex, setting the stage for intense global competition.
To ensure a strong performance, the club has reinforced its roster with five international players: Makur Maker, a South Sudanese-Australian forward; Ivan Almeida from Cape Verde; Puerto Rican national team player Ismael Romero; Senegalese guard Jean-Jacques Boissy; and American point guard Marcos Knight. The team will be led by Egyptian head coach Mohamed Elkardani.
