In a move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency in Libya’s aviation sector, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh has issued Decision No. 400 of 2025, mandating the formation of a specialized committee to oversee the separation of Mitiga’s civil airport from the adjoining military base.
The committee, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Transport for Civil Aviation Affairs, has been given a strict one-week deadline to complete its assignment and submit its findings directly to the Prime Minister for approval.
This initiative is part of a broader government strategy to modernize Libya’s air transport infrastructure by clearly delineating civilian and military facilities—an approach expected to improve service quality and streamline airport operations for travelers.
