Lieutenant General Bassem Mohamed Bouaishi was born in Tripoli in 1980 and obtained a master’s degree in the United Kingdom in 2008, combining academic qualifications with field experience.
Bouaishi joined Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar in 2011 at the outbreak of the February 17 Revolution and accompanied him through key military stages, beginning with Operation Dignity and subsequent battles. He contributed to battlefield victories, organized logistical operations, and played a central role in strengthening internal coordination and structuring the armed forces. He also commanded the 155th Battalion, which was later transformed into the “Al-Obour Brigade,” further cementing his position as one of Haftar’s closest associates.

On the international front, Bouaishi represented the armed forces abroad, highlighting their role in counterterrorism, consolidating international recognition of their efforts, and opening channels of cooperation with militarily advanced and technologically capable states. His contributions extended beyond the military sphere to include support for social and sporting activities within the institution.
In this context, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, issued a decision appointing Lieutenant General Bouaishi as Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief, as part of the leadership’s efforts to implement Vision 2030 aimed at enhancing institutional performance and strengthening the efficiency of the armed forces.
