The Libyan national taekwondo team secured two gold medals at the Arab Cup G1 Championship, which concluded on Wednesday evening in Fujairah, UAE. The event saw record-breaking participation, with 1,534 athletes from across the Arab world competing.
The historic achievement was delivered by Libyan athletes Mohamed Atiwa, who dominated the youth under 63 kg category, and Abdulrahman Yahya, who triumphed in the youth under 68 kg division. Their victories lifted Libya’s flag high at the closing ceremony of the three-day championship, held from February 5 to 7.
The Libyan team is set to continue its competitive journey in Fujairah, shifting focus to the Fujairah International Open Championship, which kicks off on Thursday and runs until February 13. The international event will feature fierce competition, with 2,628 elite athletes from around the globe. The tournament is seen as a crucial international benchmark to gauge preparations ahead of continental and global championships.
