The Libyan Anti-Doping Committee, headed by Dr. Mohammed Al-Faqih, announced the launch of doping tests using venous blood samples during local sports championships, for the first time in the country’s history.
The announcement came after the completion of technical and logistical preparations for the implementation of this mechanism, which is a qualitative leap in anti-doping policies, in line with the directives of the International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which recommends the adoption of blood tests for their high accuracy in detecting prohibited substances, compared to traditional methods.
Al-Faqih confirmed in a special statement to the media that this step comes within the “National Campaign for the Detection of Doping”, which is officially supported by the Libyan Ministry of Sports and aims to protect athletes and ensure clean competitions that keep pace with global developments in this field.
