In a decisive operation north of Kufra, south-eastern Libya, authorities from the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency liberated 76 migrants and uncovered 28 bodies in a mass grave, shedding light on the brutal practices of human trafficking networks. The mission, ordered by Major General Salah Al-Khufeifi, head of the agency, and led by Colonel Muhammad Al-Fadil of the Southeastern Branch, targeted a criminal gang accused of detaining and torturing migrants and keeping them in inhumane conditions.
Acting on intelligence, security forces, in coordination with the General Attorney’s Office and supported by the “Path of Peace” force, stormed a detention site. Survivors recounted harrowing experiences of abuse, prompting a forensic team to exhume and examine the remains of 28 individuals buried nearby to determine causes of death.
Three suspects—one Libyan and two foreign nationals—were apprehended and referred for prosecution.
The Southeastern Branch reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling organized crime rings involved in human trafficking.
