The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) has officially announced that Libya will host two prestigious continental championships as part of the African competitions calendar for 2025, marking a step in the country’s return to the continental sports scene and its ability to organize major events.
The capital city, Tripoli, will host the African Nations Volleyball Championship for Under-16 (U16) in July 2025, while the African Nations Volleyball Championship for Under-20 (U20) will take place in Benghazi in August of the same year.
Hosting these two tournaments presents a valuable opportunity to develop volleyball in Libya and encourage greater youth participation in the sport as part of a broader vision to enhance sports infrastructure and elevate competitive standards at the continental level. The Libyan and African sports communities are eagerly anticipating these events, with high hopes for a successful organization that showcases Libya’s capability to host major tournaments and reassert its presence on the international sports stage.
