The municipality of Al-Asabia has reported a concerning resurgence of unexplained fires over the past three days. Flames erupted in four residential homes, resulting in eight cases of suffocation among residents. Municipal spokesperson Sadiq Al-Maqtouf confirmed that three affected houses sustained severe structural damage, while the fourth experienced minor material losses. All injured individuals received immediate medical treatment at Al-Asabia Central Hospital and were discharged after their condition stabilized.
Al-Maqtouf categorically denied circulating reports about the arrival of a Maltese expert team to investigate the recurring fires, stressing that the municipality had received no official communication from the Government of National Unity regarding such a delegation. He emphasized that the information emerged solely through media and social media channels without formal coordination with local authorities.
The incidents have intensified public anxiety, with residents demanding enhanced investigative efforts, technical support to identify the root causes of the fires, and the implementation of preventive measures to safeguard lives and property from future risks.
