The Director-General of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Haider Al-Sayeh, chaired an expanded meeting on Tuesday morning at the center’s headquarters in Tripoli, with the presence of high-level officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) in Libya, led by the Head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the WHO Regional Office, alongside directors of departments and technical offices at the NCDC.
The meeting primarily focused on discussing ways to strengthen joint technical cooperation between the center and the organization to address Libya’s increasing health challenges, particularly concerning the control and prevention of infectious diseases.
During the meeting, attendees reviewed the current health situation at both the local and regional levels and exchanged views on practical mechanisms and proposals to raise the efficiency of the national health system in the field of preparedness and effective response to epidemics and various health emergencies. This meeting comes within the context of joint efforts and continuous coordination between the NCDC and the WHO in developing and enhancing the system for monitoring and responding to diseases and health risks in Libya.
