A high-level American delegation of prominent military and political officials has commenced an official visit to Libya, encompassing key stops in Tripoli and Benghazi. The primary objective of this visit is to discuss and deepen the prospects for joint security cooperation between the United States and Libya.
The U.S. Embassy in Libya confirmed, via its official Facebook page, the arrival of the American vessel “USS Mount Whitney” at Tripoli’s port, following a stop in Tunisia. The embassy clarified that this visit will be undertaken by Vice Admiral J.T. Anderson, the Commander of the U.S. Sixth Fleet, Ambassador Richard Norland, the U.S. Special Envoy to Libya, and Jeremy Berndt, the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Libya. The delegation’s itinerary includes meetings and discussions in both Tripoli and Benghazi.
The U.S. Embassy further indicated that the other purpose of this visit is to reaffirm the United States’ steadfast support for Libya’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
