The Italian maritime shipping firm Agencies Srl has declared the activation of a fresh route for transporting diverse goods and commodities, commencing its voyages from the port of Chioggia in Venice, Italy, and setting course for Libyan harbors.
Italian media sources indicate that this line is set to begin operations on May 8th, aimed at reaching the ports of Benghazi and Misrata.
Agencies Srl anticipates its inaugural vessel will dock in Benghazi by mid-May, laden with a varied assortment of goods, coinciding with the escalating reconstruction efforts underway in the eastern region under the guidance of the Libya Reconstruction and Development Fund.
In a related development, the Italian Embassy in Libya, via its “X” platform account on April 9th, unveiled a significant surge in Italian exports to Libya, registering an increase of 34.2%, equivalent to €2.27 billion, at the close of 2024 compared to 2023.
Statistics from the Italian Embassy in Tripoli illustrated growth in the export of five varied commodity categories by an aggregate of 19%. Exports of machinery also climbed by 19.3%, agri-food industries by 43.3%, and chemical and pharmaceutical industries by 32.2%, while Italian exports of medical supplies achieved a notable rise of 44.7%.
