Libya is on the agenda of Tunisian-Egyptian talks


Tunisia and Egypt engaged in discussions concerning a number of pressing issues in the area, with the situation in Libya and Egypt’s endeavors to support regional security and stability taking precedence.
These deliberations occurred during a meeting between Tunisian President Kais Saied and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who was on an official visit to Tunisia.


The media office of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs elaborated that the meeting extensively covered the evolving situations in Libya, Sudan, and Syria, in addition to reviewing the earnest efforts undertaken by Egypt to support and consolidate security and stability throughout the region.
The Egyptian Minister delivered a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Tunisian President, affirming Egypt’s keen interest in achieving further development and growth in the bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations, and in elevating the level of cooperation and coordination across various fields, in implementation of high presidential directives and in a manner that serves the common interests of the Egyptian and Tunisian peoples.


The Minister also expressed his country’s anticipation of Cairo hosting the eighteenth session of the Joint Higher Committee between the two countries, chaired by the respective Prime Ministers, while commending the positive outcomes of the sixth session of the Joint Commercial and Industrial Committee, held in Tunisia on the fifteenth and sixteenth of April 2025, chaired by the trade ministers of both countries. He emphasized that these outcomes would contribute to propelling the trajectory of economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between Tunisia and Egypt towards broader horizons.


On another front, the meeting dedicated significant attention to the most prominent current issues on the Arab scene, with the pivotal Palestinian issue at the forefront. In this regard, Minister Shoukry outlined Egypt’s intensive efforts to resume the implementation of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza Strip, intending to achieve sustainable de-escalation and restore the flow of essential humanitarian and relief aid to the sector. The meeting also addressed the details of the ambitious Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, with Palestinians on their land, in addition to future movements and endeavors to support this plan in coordination with various influential international actors.
