Misrata is set to host the 46th edition of the Africa Men’s Volleyball Club Championship from April 19th to 29th, 2025. This event will witness the participation of 23 clubs representing 14 African nations, including Ahly (Egypt), Fath Union Sportif Rabat (Morocco), Widad Tlemcen (Algeria), and Espérance Sportive (Tunisia), alongside contenders from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Cameroon, Congo, Ghana, and Ethiopia.
Libya will be represented by three clubs vying for the continental title: Sweihli, Ittihad, and Nasr. Sweihli club, representing the host city, enters the competition with aspirations to clinch their African title, especially after their recent historic domestic treble, securing the Libyan League Championship, the Libyan Cup, and the Super Cup.
The matches will be held at the Misrata International Sports Hall, which has undergone renovations and upgrades to meet global specifications. The development work included a complete overhaul of the flooring and the installation of sports equipment, all aimed at providing an ideal sporting environment for hosting this event.
The official opening ceremony of the championship is scheduled for Saturday, featuring the inaugural match between the Libyan club Sweihli and the Congolese team Espoir.
