On the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank held in Washington, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa, last Wednesday provided a detailed presentation to officials from both Visa and Mastercard. During this meeting, the Governor outlined the measures and procedures being implemented by the Central Bank of Libya to strengthen financial inclusion and expand the scope of banking services to encompass broader segments of Libyan society.
Governor Naji Issa, accompanied by a number of officials from the Central Bank, specifically briefed Visa officials on the latest developments in the electronic services sector in Libya and the efforts to regulate and control various financial transactions. The parties also discussed the extent of the Central Bank’s commitment to implementing international standards for combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism, in addition to the procedures adopted to enhance transparency within the banking sector.
