As part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the International Organization for Migration to address the situations of migrants in Libya and provide them with the necessary means of support and protection, the Head of the IOM Mission in Libya held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Libya. The discussions primarily revolved around exploring and strengthening cooperation in various fields that serve the interests of migrants.
The IOM clarified through its official page on “Facebook” that the meeting included in-depth discussions on ways to develop existing cooperation regarding the Voluntary Humanitarian Return (VHR) program, which aims to enable migrants to return to their countries of origin with dignity and safety. In addition to this, emphasis was placed on the importance of enhancing the comprehensive protection measures provided by the organization to migrants in Libya, as well as facilitating their access to the necessary consular support from their country’s embassy. Representatives of the IOM expressed their aspiration to deepen this partnership with the Embassy of the Congo, to expand the scope of support provided to Congolese migrants present in Libya, and to meet their diverse needs more effectively.
