Data tracker reveals sharp 44.7% drop in crude oil consumption at Libya's Ubari power plant since February

Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), in a statement released today, Monday, May 6th, 2025, has shed light on the specifics of domestic market consumption of natural gas, crude oil, heavy fuel oil (mazut), and diesel fuel over the past week.

In related news, meticulous data tracking by Al-Manassa team, specialising in monitoring and analysing Libya’s energy sector, has revealed a significant and notable decline in the quantities of crude oil dispatched to fuel the Ubari power generation plant during the past week. This contraction amounts to a substantial 44.7%, with the plant recording a consumption of 66,700 barrels of crude oil, a considerable drop from the 120,794 barrels consumed in mid-February of this year, 2025. This translates to a reduction in consumption of approximately 54,000 barrels of crude oil within a relatively short timeframe. Alongside this, the latest figures released by the NOC indicate that domestic market consumption of natural gas reached around 5.33 billion cubic feet, while diesel fuel consumption stood at 12,366 metric tons. Regarding the consumption of heavy fuel oil (mazut), this amounted to 28,919 metric tons during the same reporting period.
