Libyan House of Representatives member, Mr. Hassan al-Barghouti, has actively participated in the Palestine Committee meeting, held as part of the 38th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) conference currently convening in the Algerian capital.
The meeting commenced with the election of a chair and rapporteur for the committee, with the prominent Libyan MP, Mr. Hassan al-Barghouti, being elected as the rapporteur of the Palestine Committee.
During the meeting, the committee engaged in extensive discussions regarding urgent measures to provide immediate assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip, which is grappling with dire humanitarian conditions. The committee also exchanged views on the establishment of a permanent “Palestine Committee” within all Arab parliaments.. After the meeting, the committee issued a strong declaration unequivocally rejecting all attempts aimed at the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their historic homeland. The committee also called upon Arab governments to provide all necessary forms of support to the Palestinian people in confronting the difficult circumstances they face
