Libya’s High Council of State has voiced profound concern regarding the escalating security tensions and military mobilization surrounding the capital, Tripoli, cautioning that the continuation of this situation imperils the lives of citizens and undermines the stability of the nation.
In a statement released today, the council called upon the Presidential Council, the defense minister, and the chief of the general staff in the western region to assume their responsibilities and issue immediate orders for the return of all military units to their respective barracks. This measure is crucial to avert any escalation that could further exacerbate the already volatile security situation.
The council emphasized that any escalation would only deepen the suffering of the Libyan people, devastate the remaining infrastructure and economy, and intensify the divisions that impede the establishment of a unified state.
Furthermore, it asserted that a comprehensive national reconciliation, founded on justice and equity, represents the optimal path toward Libya’s stability. In this vein, the council implored all Libyan parties to intervene urgently and prioritize dialogue to overcome the current crisis.
